چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: In this modern era, numerus people around the world are consuming alcohol in different situations. Many people assume the occasional beer or glass of wine at mealtime or special occasions does not pose much cause for being worry. Recently studies show that any amount of alcohol can surely result in unwanted health consequences. In ۱۹۸۸, the International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified alcohol as a Group ۱ carcinogen, the highest level of risk. Growing evidence suggests that alcohol increases the risk of several types of cancer including breast, bowel, prostate, liver and colorectal.Search method: The authors conducted a narrative review, beginning with a comprehensive literature search in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. We used the following keywords to find relevant articles: Alcohol consumption, Carcinogen, Breast cancer.Result: Alcohol consumption, classified into low, moderate and high consumption, by adult women is steadily associated with risk of breast cancer. Menarche to first pregnancy represents a window of time when breast tissue is particularly susceptible to carcinogens. The more the alcohol consumption accumulated during life, the more the risk of Breast cancer, particularly in postmenopausal women. Conclusion: Despite the ample evidence about carcinogenic effects of alcohol, public awareness is less clear. There should be required to increase awareness of this important among society, which can lead to reducing consumption level.
