In vitro propagation of English yew, an ornamental-medicinal tree

Apical buds excised from mother plants were inoculated on Murashige and Skoog (MS) mediumsupplemented with different concentrations and combinations of Kin (۰.۰۰, ۰.۵۰, ۱.۰۰ and ۲.۰۰mg l–۱) as a cytokinin and IBA (۰.۰۰, ۰.۵۰, ۱.۰۰ and ۲.۰۰ mg l–۱) as an auxin. Results showed thatthe highest number of leaf (۱۸.۵۰), and the longest root (۸.۱۷ cm) were obtained on MS mediumcontaining ۲.۰۰ mg l–۱ Kin together with ۱.۰۰ mg l–۱ IBA. The maximum shoot number (۵.۳۰) androot number (۶.۶۶) were obtained on MS medium supplemented with ۰.۵۰ mg l–۱ Kin togetherwith ۱.۰۰ mg l–۱ IBA. Plantlets were transferred to pots filled with perlite and peat moss in equalproportions for acclimatization. These plantlets were acclimated and successfully established incultivation beds.
